Gingerbread Cookies, also known as Gingerbread Man, are among the yummiest cookies or biscuits served during Christmas and on other occasions. Anyone with a sweet tooth might have tried these human-shaped cookies with seasonal themes and characters at least once. This healthy, cardamom and nutmeg mixed cookie is known to have travelled from 2400 BC and even marked its title during the Queen Elizabeth’s era. It impressed her courtiers, visitors and was even considered as a token of love. Indeed, which food isn’t a token of love? 

Soft in the centre, crisp on the edges and perfectly spiced, these cookies with adorable human shapes and differently coloured icing creams bring happy smiles on everyone’s faces. The Gingerbread cookies are widely popular and have different varieties spreading the cheer of the holidays in various places. These oven-baked yummy cookies are a must-try and when baked with love, they become even more special.  

INGREDIENTS

MAIDA / WHOLE WHEAT FLOUR

1 CUP

GINGER POWDER

½ TSP

CINNAMMON POWDER

¼ TSP

NUTMEG POWDER

½ TSP

BAKING POWDER

½ TSP

BAKING SODA

¼ TSP

FLAXSEED POWDER

1 TSP

BUTTER

¼ CUP

MOLASSES (JAGGERY MELTED LIQUID)

¼ CUP

BROWN SUGAR

1/3 CUP

POWDERED SUGAR

FOR GARNISHING

HOW TO MAKE

  • In a bowl, mix all the ingredients from Maida to Flaxseed Powder in a bowl very well and keep it aside.
  • In another bowl, mix the butter, molasses and brown sugar using a blender or bare hand.
  • As the mixture gets prepared add the maida mix onto the bowl of butter slowly and knead it into a dough.
  • Preheat the Oven at 360 degrees.
  • In a rolling pan, sprinkle some flour and roll over the dough and make it flat but maintaining enough thickness using a rolling pin.
  • Now cut out small portions of dough using cookie cutter or by scooping them and place it properly onto the baking tray.
  • Sprinkle the powdered sugar on top of the cookies and place it inside the oven for baking.
  • After 7 to 8 minutes, reduce to the lowest degree and let it bake for next 4 minutes.
  • The gingerbread cookie is finally prepared.

The soft, crispy, yummy and healthy ginger bread cookies are ready to serve with a cup of tea. Rather than an ordinary common cookie attire, garnish it with sprinkles and cream and make it look like a wonderland of food!!
